This Camarillo Ranch House wedding was our first wedding of the year!! I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect day for these two. When we first met, Andrew and Jennifer told me their proposal story, and I could not stop giggling! Let’s just say – she said something that out of context would be scary for any guy to hear… but Andrew knows his Jennifer and they just laughed at the silliness of it all. His joy, her big heart and their adorableness together are some of the reasons I looked forward to their big day since the day we met. I imagined their wedding day to be as easy going, fun and energetic as they were during their engagement session and it was that and more!
Jennifer loves sunflowers and incorporated them throughout their wedding; from the stationary to the decor. Her bouquet included sunflowers and purple roses; the purple touch is from the roses that Andrew’s mom and family used for their bridal bouquets. (How sweet is that?!) Disney was also a reoccurring theme throughout the day – in fact, Andrew made most of the Disney inspired pieces. Their reception was filled his creations!
Andrew also set up a surprise for Jennifer – he rented a DeLorean (yes – a DeLorean!!) since Jennifers favorite movie is Back to the Future. 🙂 It was the perfect ride into their grand entrance!!
Take a look at their day below!
Venue: Camarillo Ranch House in Camarillo, CA
We couldn’t find a venue in the Los Angeles area that was within our budget and would also fit all of our guests, so Andrew and I were already so overwhelmed with looking at different venues when we stumbled across Camarillo Ranch! It was perfect timing because we were about ready to give up. But this place had everything we were looking for: Size, it’s proximity to LA, and the fact that it was practical (the barn serves as a backup option for if it rains).
Yes, quite a few actually! Andrew’s processional was chosen by Jennifer because her uncle, who passed away a few years back, would always sing Elvis Presley songs during family gatherings. We have some other Disney songs in the ceremony and processional that will also be playing. Our first dance is special for the both of us because we love going to music festivals, and this particular song was just perfect.
We really want our personalities to show at our wedding, and so two of our main themes are Disney and family.
Family is really important for the both of us. We both have lost family at some point in our lives, whether it was a relative that has passed on or a relative that has parted ways from the family, but each instance has left us feeling very emotional. There are relatives now that do not get a long, and as much as we want for them to get along, we know that they’ll never make amends. With that being said, we really wanted a lot of ‘family style’ elements all around our wedding: from the lawn games to the farm table seating, and from the buffet food to the remembrance table, we want everyone to feel like this wedding is just one big family gathering! We want people to feel right at home, and also enjoy some of what’s most important in both of our lives.
As for Disney, we want our guests to have fun with the different elements of Disney that they find at our wedding, and to just really enjoy themselves and have fun!
Our favorite part was creating some of our DIY projects! The bar sign, the seating map, the Disney mailbox… it was all just so much fun.
Planning this wedding felt like a trial run for our marriage. We encountered a lot of different obstacles and problems while we were planning, and so we figured that if we were able to overcome these, we’re able to better tackle problems that would come up in our marriage later on. Keep listening to each other, always keep an open line of communication, and always give support to one another. There were times that we felt so overwhelmed with the planning, that just being there for each other was so comforting.
XO,
V
